Critical Point

Like many modern h-games, this title could be either wonderful or seriously irritating depending on your tastes. This is a sci-fi/horror/mystery game set on an isolated moon base where a strange disease is driving the crew insane. You are a pilot with a dark past who has to find the culprit(s) before everyone winds up dead.

Unusually, there are multiple badguys - depending on which path of the game you end up on. Which can be confusing, if you hit the path that ends extremely quickly (Was that it? you think) or if the person who was your best friend last time around is suddenly the enemy. The writer for this game has been involved with anime like Macross, Gundam, and Bubblegum Crisis, so there's some talent and familiarity with scifi/mecha settings to look forward to.

So if the plot's great, the art's smooth, and the gameplay is interesting but *not* frustratingly difficult as you work out the different paths, what am I complaining about? Frankly, the main character is a bit of a jerk in the way he treats the women on the station. This may or may not bother you, but I found it offputting. Still, it was fun to play and diverse enough that I kept going until I found (almost) every possible ending.
