Hourglass of Summer This is one of the recent DVD-based games. Not DVD-ROM, but plain, simple, DVD. Can be played from a standard DVD player (or ps2, or your computer). This works by making choices that will select a chapter, and displaying passwords that will let you get back to where you were. Because these games were designed to be sold in mainstream stores, the explicit sex has been removed from them. They are instead "suggestive romance" games. (And cheaper than the porn ones!) Titles in this genre are Hourglass of Summer, Day of Love, Witch's Tea Party, and Amusement Park. Hourglass of Summer is commonly considered to be the best of the crop. It's a long game with a good story. The last thing you remember is leaving school for the summer... Suddenly you find that it's autumn, and that in the time between you found love and then lost her in a tragic accident. You play the game by unwinding your missing memories to find out what happened to you and possibly change the past. Were you meant to be together? Or is the only way to save your love to give her up forever? This title takes a long time to play, which can make it difficult to get all the endings, since it is hard to fast-forward through old sections. However, you will definitely get your money's worth!
